• Colton Herta eager for the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway this weekend

After a two-week hiatus, the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season resumes with three race weekends in a row starting at Pocono Raceway with the ABC Supply 500. The #88 Capstone Turbine Honda will compete along the 2.5-mile superspeedway for the second 500-mile race on the schedule.
Nicknamed The Tricky Triangle, Pocono Raceway’s three turns are each modeled after a different track, turn one after Trenton Speedway, turn two after the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and turn three after the Milwaukee Mile.
“Pocono Raceway is certainly one of the more interesting tracks on the NTT IndyCar Series schedule,” said Brian Barnhart. “It has always been a place with compromise involved because of the uniqueness of the oval configuration. Drivers will determine if they want to get through the first turn well and compromise on the third turn or, the other way around, get through the third turn strong before the wide and long straightaway while doing their best to get through the second turn. This track is unique and challenging, so I’m looking forward to seeing how Colton and the #88 Capstone Turbine Honda will do during this two-day show.”
This will be Colton’s fourth oval race on the 2019 NTT IndyCar Series schedule and his first time competing at Pocono Raceway.
“I’m really looking forward to racing at Pocono Raceway this weekend,” said Colton Herta. “We were so fast throughout the month of May on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2.5-mile oval, so I know the #88 Capstone Turbine Honda can be quick and competitive around the 2.5-mile Tricky Triangle. I’m really excited for the next three races in a row, especially having the opportunity to race at Pocono Raceway since I have never competed here.”
Practice for the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway will begin Saturday, August 17th on NBC Sports Gold. Qualifying will be live on NBC Sports at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Live race day coverage will be Sunday on NBC Sports from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. ET.
